The edges of the leaves roll under to help retain moisture.<\/li>\n<li>New twigs are densely covered with brown hairs; old stems become reddish-brown to grey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Flowers &amp; Fruits: <\/strong>Five-petalled, white flowers, about 1 cm across, occur in rounded clusters at the branch tips.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Habitat: <\/strong>Shade-intolerant and often found on moist to wet soils, Labrador tea is   common on open peatland dominated by sphagnum moss and in open-canopy   coniferous forests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PlantWatch Pointers: <\/strong>Select a typical patch of plants, if the plants are very abundant, mark off a l-metre-square section to observe.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>To Observe:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First bloom: when the first flowers are open in the observed plants (3 places).<\/li>\n<li>Mid bloom: when 50% of the flowers are open in the observed plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Distribution Map:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.naturewatch.ca\/plantwatch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/rhododendron_groenlandicum_map.jpg\" alt=\"Distribution Map\" width=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p> <strong>This species is monitored in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alberta<\/li>\n<li>British Columbia<\/li>\n<li>Manitoba<\/li>\n<li>New Brunswick<\/li>\n<li>Newfoundland and Labrador<\/li>\n<li>Northwest Territories<\/li>\n<li>Nova Scotia<\/li>\n<li>Nunavut<\/li>\n<li>Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Prince Edward Island<\/li>\n<li>Quebec<\/li>\n<li>Saskatchewan<\/li>\n<li>Yukon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote style=\"margin: 2% 5%;
