overflow:hidden;\">\n<li>Low plant, often forming colonies. <\/li>\n<li>Shiny, overlapping leaves appear in sets of 2 to 5 (usually 3) at the base of the stem. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leaves &amp; Twigs: <\/strong>Leaves are oval, 15-30 cm long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flowers &amp; Fruits: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flowers are yellowish-green. <\/li>\n<li>The stem rises to a height of 15-40 cm, and has three to six star-shaped, nodding flowers at the top. <\/li>\n<li>The fruit is small (about 1 cm), shiny and very blue, appearing later in the summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Habitat: <\/strong>Moist deciduous or mixed coniferous woodlands with rich soil.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>PlantWatch Pointers: <\/strong>Select a typical patch of plants, if the plants are very abundant, mark off a l-metre-square section to observe.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>To Observe:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First bloom: when the first flowers are open in the observed plants. <\/li>\n<li>Mid bloom: when 50% of the flowers are open in the observed plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Distribution Map:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.naturewatch.ca\/plantwatch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/09\/clintonia_borealis_map.jpg\" alt=\"Distribution Map\" width=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p> <strong>This species is monitored in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New Brunswick<\/li>\n<li>Newfoundland and Labrador<\/li>\n<li>Nova Scotia<\/li>\n<li>Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Prince Edward Island<\/li>\n<li>Quebec<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote style=\"margin: 2% 5%;
