| Taxonomic Key Look at the shape of
the TP and the pattern of the GT within the clitellum.
Make sure that you are looking for the TP on the ventral side
of the clitellum. The TP are often found along the edges of the
clitellum on the ventral side. Usually they are the same colour
as the clitellum. While looking at the shape of the TP, take note
of the GT pattern within the clitellum. This pattern may be easier
to see than the TP bands, and it is just as useful as the TP shape
for identification.
Each TP is like a pair of lobes. The 3 pairs
of GT are found near the end of the clitellum on consecutive segments.
The
TP are distinct bands and they run the entire length of the clitellum. There
are no GT inside the clitellum.
The TP are band shape and they only run half
way up the clitellum.
The TP are long and indistinct. There are
GT located before and after the clitellum.
The TP are shaped like pyramids with their
points facing into the non GT segments. The GT are on alternating
segments in the clitellum.
