Nyssoninae   Lestiphorus piceus

The Nyssoninae with about 1500 species is the second largest subfamily. There are 63 species found for the most part across southern Canada of which 26 species are known from the Montane Cordillera Ecozone. Most species prey on Homoptera but several species are cleptoparasitic on other Nyssoninae. All species are ground-nesters.
