RESEARCH PRIORITIES
Research required to support natural landscape management aimed at maintaining the
avian diversity of the Mixedwood Plains Ecozone would include the following priorities:
- enhancement of baseline population data for woodland passerines, especially species
of mature woodland interiors;
- determination of impact of forest fragmentation on woodland passerines;
- assessment of size and structural requirements for ecologically effective ecological
linkages between forested habitats;
- determination of ecological requirements of wintering raptors;
- determination of ecological requirements of endangered, vulnerable and rare species.
